FAQs

All of our pallets carry 67 square yards of sod which is equivalent to 600 square feet. Each pallet is 4’x4’ and should fit in the bed of a standard size pickup truck.

To calculate the amount of sod you will need to cover a specific area, measure the length and width of the area you want to cover; and then multiply the length by the width (in feet), and this will give you the total amount of sod that you need in square feet. Use our calculator above.

Each pallet of sod weighs 2,500-3,000 lbs, depending on the moisture content.

Genetic purity can be defined as “trueness to type.” All grasses have certain genetic features that define a variety. To put it another way, genetic purity, inspected as our grasses are on our farm, means you are guaranteed to receive the variety of grass that you request.

All pickup orders will need to be placed by at least 12 pm the business day before pickup. Our pickup hours are Monday-Friday, 8 am-12 pm. We will not accommodate same-day orders.

Should you meet the minimum requirements for delivery, we typically book deliveries 1 to 2 weeks out. The more notice, the better!

Yes, the minimum for pickup is 10 rolls (~100 square feet/11 square yards). We cut in increments of ten rolls. We will get you as close to your desired amount as possible.

The minimum order for delivery is four pallets. If you do not need to order that much, we can try to accomodate on a truck with space on it. If your order is less than or equal to one pallet, we will not be able to deliver. Should you not have a standard sized pickup truck, U-Hauls and Home Depot rental trucks might be an option.

We have five farms located throughout Charles City County. Your pickup location will vary depending on the type of grass you are ordering, the time of year, etc. Please remember sod will need to be ordered in advance.

Our turfgrass is harvested and sold as live, fresh sod or large-batch sprigs only. We do not offer plugs.
